1. Alan Anderson’s pitch for more team members in the nw area of the Palos preserves for Saturday’s SBC was a welcome surprise. He’s right, though. Who can resist spending just a few hours to count before or after a sack lunch at Sagawau Environmental Learning Center. It’s an SBC group tradition. I do an area compilation for Alan of many Palos sites from a spreadsheet of the who, what, where and when of our SBC day in Palos.
2. Edward Warden, president of COS, will be presenting on COS’s Chicago Nighthawk Project at 1:00 p.m. at Sagawau, where World Migratory Bird Day will be celebrated all day. This year’s theme is the important role of community science in bird conservation. So fitting a subject on SBC day.
