It appears that I saw a large flock of martins that had landed on a light tower to dry off after the early morning thunderstorms.   There were no birds on the tower around 8 am, but about an hour later I saw the tower covered with dark birds that I assumed were starlings, as that is the only species around here that I have ever seen land on towers in large numbers.   I didn't bother to put the scope on the tower until after 10 am, when I started seeing some migrating martins.   Martin movement was mostly over by 11:30 am.  I took some photos but they are far away.   I may have gotten a few swifts in the photos as well.
