Great Lakes report

I have heard from many of you asking about the Common Tern colony at Great Lakes Naval Training Station. The lower lake levels has encouraged the birds to nest on sandbars that have developed in the harbor. Unfortunately, there is no practical way to protect these nests from a variety of predators. By a miracle, if some chicks are able to fledge I will report that news. We remain hopeful, but the outcome is uncertain at best.
