Possible migrant winter flock

I had a flock of what looked like very light or white colored underside in late day sunlight sparrow-sized or larger birds flying weirdly past my house a little earlier and I suspect they were some sort of northern migrants but I unfortunately don’t know what; hopefully they come back!

They reminded me of a smaller group of female/immature purple finches I saw at the chgo river a couple of weeks ago by the way they were flying.

Merlin update – I haven’t seen any merlins since I last posted give or take. I had an unfortunate loss to this merlin the last time it was here that I know of so I have mixed feelings now about it, though it’s still cool.
