to IBET - Illinois Birders Exchanging Thoughts
Hello Bird People,
Didn't feel like doing much today so I didn't! First to Techny North
hoping for a late shorebird but found none, not even a Killdeer. Then
to Lake Glenview hoping for sparrows in the grass next to the lake but
that didn't work either. And no migrant ducks have arrived yet either.
So for a highlight I went to Dengeos for lunch which was quite good
although it cost twice as much as my usual lunches.
Techny North (9:25-9:55 am)
Great Blue Heron (1)
(the Egret that has been here since early Summer seems to be gone)
Canada Goose (4)
Mallard (11)
Kingfisher (1)
Blue Jay (H-2), Robin (H-1) & Goldfinch (H-2)
Lake Glenview (10:10-11:40 am)
D.C. Cormorant (1)
Canada Goose (141)
Mallard (1-M)
Coot (1)
Ring Billed (28) & Herring (1 fly-by) Gulls
Pigeons (6)
Blue Jay (4)
Robin (5)
Palm Warbler (2)
White Crowned Sparrow (2)
House Finch (2)
Goldfinch (9-10)
House Sparrow (8)
So 16 species for the day plus roadside Starlings for a day's total of 17.
But not much in the quality department so Bird-Of-The-Day will be the
Kingfisher & Runners-Up
to the Coot & the Cormorant. Maybe better tomorrow?
