Hello Bird People,
Went again to River Park & went an hour earlier than yesterday but
that didn't help as I once again failed to find any Yellow Crowned
Night Herons. The intersection of the 2 streams seems to be the right
place to look though as today I saw 16 Black Crowned Night herons
there as well as 3 Great Blue Herons, 1 Green Heron & 4 D.C.
Cormorants. I'll try again next week but I am somewhat tired of this
project for now.
River Park (6:50-8:50 am)
D.C. Cormorant (4)
Great Blue Heron (3)
Green Heron (1)
Black Crowned Night Heron (16)
Canada Goose (7)
Mallard (6-AD & 2 young)
Ring Billed Gull (1 fly-by)
Chimney Swift (2)
Kingfisher (1)
Eastern Pewee (H-1)
Rough Winged (4) & Barn (4) Swallows
Crow (2-3)
Robin (5)
Starling (2)
Warbling Vireo (1)
Yellow Warbler (1)
Common Yellowthroat (1)
Song Sparrow (3)
Red Wings (5) & Grackles (9)
Goldfinch (3)
House Sparrow (12-15)
So 23 species at River Park plus 2 roadside additions for a day's total of 25.
Bird-Of-The-Day will be the Green Heron which has been much harder to
find here than the other Herons. Runner-Up to the repeat Kingfisher.
