Hello Bird People,

Tried three more beach areas but only found very common shorebirds &
not very many of them. Was with Bob Erickson at all three places &
saw Andy Stewart at one place.

Waukegan Beach (5:50-7 am)

D.C. Cormorant (3)
Canada Goose (~40)
Spotted (3) & Semipalmated (2) Sandpipers
(Bob E also saw Piping Plover Buddy near Greenwood where I can't get to)
Ring Billed (~50) & Herring (15) Gulls
Caspian Tern (2 fly-bys)
Barn (8) & Bank (1) Swallows
Saw 5 common landbirds with the only interesting one being a Brown
Thrasher on the road out.

State Line Beach & North Point Marina (7:30-8 am)

D.C. Cormorant (~10, harbor)
Sandhill Crane (2. on the lawns)
Killdeer (2)
Semipalmated Plover (1)
Spotted Sandpiper (1)
Least Sandpiper (1)
Ring Billed (~290) & Herring (84) Gulls
Caspian Tern (1, on the beach)
Song Sparrow, Goldfinch & Red Wings

From Sand Pond to the Lake Michigan Beach (8:15-9:30 am)

D.C. Cormorant (2)
Canada Goose (3)
Green Heron (2, at Sand Pond)
Killdeer (6) & Spotted Sandpiper (2)
Ring Billed (6) & Herring (2) Gulls
Kestrel (1)
Purple Martin (~10), Barn (10) & Bank (1) Swallows
The only interesting land bird was Eastern Bluebird (1-AD & 2 very young ones)

So 28 species at my three locations plus one roadside addition for a
day's total of 29.
Bird-Of-The-Day will be the Sandhill Cranes & Runners-Up will be the
Kestrel & the Bluebirds.

License Plate Of The Day was one from Manitoba seen at State Line Beach.
It's a nice looking plate which I seldom see.
