Hello Bird People,
Went with Luis M to the Wood Dale Reservoir Complex today but in spite
of the mudflats being back at the Itasca/Western Wetlands we found few
species of shorebirds but many Killdeer.
Reservoir Only
D,C. Cormorant (4)
Great Blue Heron (4) & Great Egret (4)
Canada Goose (19)
Wood Duck (14) & Mallard (~20)
Killdeer (12), Spotted Sandpiper (4) & Least Sandpiper (1)
Herring Gull (1-AD)
Caspian Tern (23, including one young one)
Tree (1), Rough Winged (2) & Barn (5) Swallows
Middle Pond
D.C. Cormorant (4) & Red Tailed Hawk (1-PR & 1-IM)
Itasca/Western Wetlands
D.C. Cormorant (2)
Great Blue Heron (2) & Great Egret (4)
Green Heron (1)
Wood Duck (1-F & 8 young) & Mallard (2)
Killdeer (48), Spotted (8) & Least (6) Sandpipers
Caspian Terns (7)
Landbirds
Only regulars today which included Willow Flycatcher (2), Eastern
Kingbird (2), two young Baltimore Orioles & a Savannah Sparrow.
So I had 40 species at Wood Dale. Not much to choose from but
Bird-Of-The-Day will be the Green Heron & Runner-Up to all those
Caspian Terns. Maybe tomorrow will be better although it will be hot.
