to IBET - Illinois Birders Exchanging Thoughts
Hello Bird People,
Went with Luis M for our weekly visit to Wood Dale Reservoir. Migrant
ducks have still not arrived but we did see 3 species of shorebirds as
well as a young P.B. Grebe & an adult Bald Eagle.
Wood Dale (7:35-11:05 a.m.)
Reservoir Only

Great Blue Heron (4) & Great Egret (2)
Canada Goose (229, counted by Luis)
Mallard (2)
Killdeer (12)
Greater Yellowlegs (1)
Least Sandpiper (1)
Ring Billed (14) & Herring (1) Gulls
BALD EAGLE (1-AD)
Middle Pond
Great Blue Heron (1), Kestrel (1-M) & Kingfisher (1-M)
Itasca/Western Wetlands
P.B. Grebe (1, a young one)
Great Blue Heron (1) & Great Egret (1)
Canada Goose (1 fly-by)
Mallard (38)
Luis also saw 2 Wood Ducks which I missed.
Land Birds
Saw or heard 21 species of which the more interesting were Hairy
Woodpecker (2), American Tree Sparrow (1), Cedar Waxwing (2), a
singing Song Sparrow & 4 Yellow Rumped Warblers.
Bird-Of-The-Day will be the regal Bald Eagle which sat for 20 min in a
big tree for great looks.
Runners-Up to the P.B. Grebe & the Greater Yellowlegs.
