Hello Bird People,
Wanted to try & find any Swan species & maybe a duck I haven't seen so
far this year but that did not happen. My only highlights were 5 White
Fronted Geese, 1 Brown Creeper & 2 adult Bald Eagles.
Moraine Hills State Park (mostly feeders) (9-10:20 am)
Red Bellied (1) & Hairy (1-F) Woodpeckers
Chickadee (7), W.B. Nuthatch (1) & Brown Creeper (1)
Cardinal (3)
Tree Sparrow (2) & Junco (7)
House Finch (29) & Goldfinch (12)
House Sparrow (4)
McHenry Dam (10:25-10:45 am)
Canada Goose (25-28)
Mallard (12)
Black Duck (5)
Red Tailed Hawk (1 fly-by)
Lippold Park (11:15-noon)
Canada Goose (~700)
WHITE FRONTED GOOSE (5, hard to find in all those Canada's)
Mallard (45) & Black Duck (1)
Starling (~35) & House Sparrow (4)
Crystal Lake (12:15-12:30 pm)
Goldeneye (26)
Herring Gull (1)
Stopped at Three Oaks Rec Area but only saw a few Canada Geese.
Baker's Lake (1:15-1:30 am)
Canada Goose (2 fly-bys)
Common Merganser (12)
Ring Billed & Herring Gulls (~42, mostly Herring)
BALD EAGLE (2-AD, on the nesting island)
So 22 species at the several locations plus roadside Pigeons for a total of 23.
Bird-Of-The-Day to the White Fronted Geese & Runners-Up to the Bald Eagles &
the Brown Creeper.
