to IBET - Illinois Birders Exchanging Thoughts
Hello Bird People,
Another day where I was not walking very well so I just went to the
two Techny locations where I didn't have to walk far. Of course that
meant I didn't see many birds. But for the 1st time all year
the backwater at Techny Basin has a couple of mudflats forming.
Techny Basin (9-10 am)
D.C Cormorant (2)
Great Blue Heron (2)
Green Heron (1)
Canada Goose (1)
Mallard (8-AD & 15 young)
Killdeer (4)
Spotted Sandpiper (4)
Least Sandpiper (2)
Caspian Tern (2)
Flicker (1)
Eastern Kingbird (1)
Tree (1), Rough Winged (1), Cliff (2) & Barn (10) Swallows
Robin (10)
Catbird (1)
Starling (2)
Warbling Vireo (H-2)
Song Sparrow (2)
Red Wings (4) & Grackles (2)
House Sparrow (1)
Techny North (10:45-11:30 am) Was with Sean M while here)
Great Blue Heron (1)
Canada Goose (6)
Mallard (6)
Killdeer (4-AD & 3 young)
Spotted Sandpiper (7)
Least Sandpiper (4)
Semipalmated Sandpiper (3)
(No White Rumped Sandpiper today)
Caspian Tern (1)
Mourning Dove (2)
Purple Martin (1)
Tree (2), Rough Winged (2), Cliff (2) & Barn (6) Swallows
AMERICAN PIPIT (1, found by Sean) (FOY)
Robin (4)

So 30 species at the two Techny's plus roadside Pigeons for a total of
31 for the day.
Bird-Of-The-Day will be the Pipit & Runner-Up to the Purple Martin
which I hardly ever see
at Techny North.
