Hello Bird People,
Would have rather gone to see the Red Knot at Montrose but I had
promised to look for the Western Kingbird at Liberty Prairie with Bob
Erickson so that's what we did. I'll have to find another Red Knot if
possible.
Liberty Prairie (6:45-8:30 am)
Great Egret (1 fly-by)
Mallard (also 1 fly-by)
Mourning Dove (4)
Red Bellied Woodpecker (H-1)
Flicker (3)
Eastern Pewee (1)
Willow Flycatcher (1)
Alder Flycatcher (1)
Great Crested Flycatcher (H-1)
Eastern Kingbird (2)
WESTERN KINGBIRD (1) (FOY)
(Found near the electrical substation where it was last year)
Tree Swallow (about 10 in all the Bluebird boxes along the trail)
Blue Jay (2)
Robin (~20)
Catbird (2)
Starling (3)
Warbling Vireo (H-1)
Common Yellowthroat (3-4)
Cardinal (H-2)
Field Sparrow (1)
Song Sparrow (3)
Bobolink (3)
Red Wings (~12), Grackles (4) & Cowbirds (2)
Baltimore Oriole (2)
(Bob E also saw an Eastern Bluebird & heard some Grasshopper Sparrows
but I didn't see
the Bluebird & I can no longer hear Grasshopper Sparrows.
So 26 species at Liberty Prairie. Bird-Of-The-Day will be the Western
Kingbird & Runners-Up will be the Alder Flycatcher & the Bobolinks.
