Lake Opeka & Axehead Lake Friday 1-16-26

Hello Bird People,

I am having more trouble walking lately so today I just did
car-birding to stay out of the wind & avoid walking. There was a nice
mix of ducks at Opeka but no ducks at all at Axehead.

Lake Opeka (11:35 am-12:15 pm)

Canada Goose (177)
Mallard (132)
Redhead (1-M)
Goldeneye (12)
Hooded Merganser (1-M)
Red Breasted Merganser (2-M)
Herring Gull (4)

Axehead Lake (12:30-12:40 pm)

Canada Goose (21)
Rock Pigeon (35)
Junco (3)

So only 9 species at the 2 lakes plus 2 roadside additions for a day's
total of 11.
Not much to choose from but Bird-Of-The-Day will be the male Redhead &
Runner-Up
will be the male Hooded Merganser.
I will be sort of hibernating for the next few days so reports will be
short or non-existent.
