Hello Bird People,

Started out as another "beat the heat" day but it turned into a "beat
the rain" day as well.
Techny Basin still has no mudflats in the backwater area but does
have a few mudflats along the stream. Techny North had mudflats early
in the day but eventually the rains came & flooded everything.

Techny Basin (8:10-9:10 am)

Great Blue Heron (6)
Great Egret (5)
Black Crowned Night Heron (1-AD)
Mallard (11)
Red Tailed Hawk (1)
Killdeer (1), Solitary (1) & Spotted (2) Sandpipers
Ring Billed (1) & Herring (1) Gulls
Caspian Tern (1)
Mourning Dove (3)
Flicker (1)
Eastern Kingbird (2)
Rough Winged (1) & Barn (12) Swallows
Robin (8), Song Sparrow (2), Red Wings (6) & Grackle (3)
House Finch (1-F), Goldfinch (6) & House Sparrow (2)

Techny North (9:15-10:35 am) (Before the rains came)

D.C. Cormorant (1)
Great Blue Heron (1) & Great Egret (2)
Canada Goose (4)
Mallard (12-AD & 24 young ones)
Killdeer (44)
SEMIPALMATED PLOVER (1)

So 30 species at my two locations & roadside Pigeons for a day's total of 31.
Yesterday Top Bird was the Great Blue Heron family of 4 & today
Bird-Of-The-Day will be the Kestrel family of 4. We are big on family
stuff lately. Runner-Up to the Black Crowned Night Heron & the
Semipalmated Plover.
