to IBET - Illinois Birders Exchanging Thoughts
Any ideas what this is? I believe it was sighted in the UK and was identified by the photog as a buzzard (and huge). Doesn't look like one to me, but I'm no expert on that bird or UK birds.

I think it is a Common Kestrel, which is a European bird.

I thought so, too, but he said it was huge. I thought maybe peregrine, but markings aren't quite right. Well, thanks. I'll share your thought about it.

That's a Eurasian Kestrel. They are noticeably larger than American Kestrel, if that's what his reference for comparison was.
