to IBET - Illinois Birders Exchanging Thoughts
Hello Bird People,
Had to run errands & do some long overdue yard work today so the only
birding I did was check Techny North for shorebirds although nothing
new seems to have arrived since yesterday. It's late July so
shorebirds like Semipalmated Plover, Stilt Sandpiper & Dowitchers
should be starting to show up but not yet. Maybe later.
Techny North (12:15-12:50 pm)
D.C. Cormorant (1)
Great Blue Heron (2)
(No Egrets today)
Canada Goose (groups of 4 & 6)
Mallard (2-F with 13 young)
Killdeer (24)
Lesser Yellowlegs (2)
Solitary Sandpiper (5)
Spotted Sandpiper (10)
Least Sandpiper (45)
Semipalmated Sandpiper ((10)
Pectoral Sandpiper (3)
Caspian Tern (4)
Rough Winged (2) & Barn (5) Swallows
Robin (2), Savannah Sparrow (1) & House Sparrow (1)
So only 17 species at my one location plus 3 roadside additions for
today's total of 20.
Not much to pick from but Bird-Of-The-Day will be the Pectoral
Sandpipers & Runner-Up
will be the Lesser Yellowlegs.
