to IBET - Illinois Birders Exchanging Thoughts
Hello Bird People,
Too cold & windy to do much today so I just covered 2 small local
lakes mainly from inside the car. Tried to use my scope at Opeka but
had to give up because of the wind.
Lake Opeka (12:25-12:50 pm)
Canada Goose (10)
Mallard (22)
Lesser Scaup (~65)
Redhead (3)
Ring Necked Duck (4)
Goldeneye (2)
Common Merganser (1-M, been here a while)
Red Breasted Merganser (18)
Ring Billed (65) & Herring (5) Gulls
Robins (2)
Axehead Lake (1-1:40 pm)
Mallard (1-M)
Lesser Scaup (1-PR)
Goldeneye (1-F)
Red Breasted Merganser (~150)
Ring Billed (45) & Herring (37) Gulls
LESSER BLACK BACKED GULL (1-AD)
Robins (4)
So only 12 species at the 2 lakes plus three roadside additions for a
day's total of 15.
Bird-Of-The-Day to the adult Lesser Black Backed Gull & Runner-Up to
the continuing
male Common Merganser.
