to IBET - Illinois Birders Exchanging Thoughts
Hello Bird People,
Went to the Botanic Garden today in the hope that some warblers had
started to arrive & although I found a few there weren't very many.
And the only shorebirds were Killdeer. The water is still high with
not much mudflat area. Saw Alan Anderson & his group & they thought
they had a Yellow Throated Warbler but it's not on their ebird list so
maybe they decided they weren't positive after all. They had more
species than I did.
Chicago Botanic Garden (7:15-11:15 am, a long visit)

Great Blue Heron (5, most in the B. Brown Reserve)
Great Egret (1)
Canada Goose (73)
Wood Duck (26, all in the B. Brown Pond)

Red Tailed Hawk (1-IM)
Killdeer (9, the only shorebird)
Mourning Dove (3)
Chimney Swift (1)
Ruby Throated Hummer (5)
Kingfisher (1)
Blue Jay (4)
Red Breasted Nuthatch (3)
Robin (1)
Catbird (H-1)
Starling (5)
Warbling Vireo (4-5)
Common Yellowthroat (1)
Palm Warbler (2)
Blackburnian Warbler (1-F)
Cardinal (1-M)
Song Sparrow (1)
Red Wing Blackbird (1)

Goldfinch (8-10)
House Sparrow (8)
So 28 species at the Garden & Bird-Of-The-Day will be all those
Hummingbirds & Runner-Up will be the Pied Billed Grebe & the Red
Breasted Nuthatches.
