to IBET - Illinois Birders Exchanging Thoughts
Hello Bird People,
Today's hot weather destination was Air Station Prairie where I wanted
to check on the mudflat situation. There's no standing water in either
the west side pond nor the east side pond but both ponds still have
wet mud so when it rains again water levels should come back. Even
with no standing water there were still Killdeer & Spotted Sandpipers
feeding on the mudflats.
Air Station Prairie (8-9:30 am)
Killdeer (3-AD & 4 young)
Spotted Sandpiper (5)
Mourning Dove (2)
Tree (2) & Rough Winged (2) Swallows
Robin (3)
Warbling Vireo (1)
Yellow Warbler (1)
Cardinal (H-1)
Song Sparrow (3)
Red Wings (8) & Grackles (3)
House Sparrow (2)
So not much to see today with only 13 species seen.
Bird-Of-The-Day can be the 4 teenager Killdeer & Runner-Up can be the
Yellow Warbler.
We could use some cooler weather so I can get back to the bird business.
