Baker's Lake & Techny North Monday 7-20-26

Hello Bird People,

Another day looking for shorebirds at my local spots. I ended up with
8 shorebird species with all of them being normal July species. In
fact Techny North was almost a carbon copy of what I saw there
yesterday. We could use some new birds!

Baker's Lake (8:05-9:35 am)

Remember you need a scope to see the smaller birds on the distant mudflats.

WHITE PELICAN (groups of 7 & 3)
D.C. Cormorant (250-275)
Great Blue Heron (8)
Great Egret (39)
Canada Goose (19)
Mallard (6)
BALD EAGLE (1-AD, on the nest platform towers)
Osprey (1 fly-by)
Killdeer (9)
Spotted Sandpiper (4)
Least Sandpiper (2)
SHORT BILLED DOWITCHER (1, probably a continuing bird)
Ring Billed (5) & Herring (2) Gulls
Caspian Tern (41)
Blue Jay (H-2), Robin (2) & Red Wings (3)

Techny North (11:50 am-12:45 pm)

D.C. Cormorant (2)
Great Blue Heron (2)
Great Egret (1)
Mallard (4-AD-F with a total of 25 small young)
Turkey Vulture (1)
Killdeer (16)
Lesser Yellowlegs (2)
Solitary Sandpiper (5)
Spotted Sandpiper (10-12)
Least Sandpiper (41)
Semipalmated Sandpiper (4)
Pectoral Sandpiper (2)
Caspian Tern (1-AD & 1-IM)

So 25 species at my two locations plus 4 roadside additions for a
day's total of 29.
Bird-Of-The-Day will be the White Pelicans & Runners-Up will be the
Short Billed Dowitcher & the adult Bald Eagle.
