Happy 4th Of July Bird People,
Was going to check Techny North in the early morning but it rained
before I could get there.
Tried to go again at about 10 am but it started raining. Went to lunch
& after that the rain stopped & I finally made it to Techny North.
Mudflats a little diminished due to the rain but enough for some
shorebirds.
Techny North (11:45 a.m-1 pm)
Great Blue Heron (1)
Great Egret (1)
Canada Goose (18)
Mallard (6, in the entrance road channel)
Killdeer (9)
Spotted Sandpiper (5)
Solitary Sandpiper (1)
Least Sandpiper (12-14)
SHORT BILLED DOWITCHER (1)
Ring Billed Gull (1)
Caspian Tern (4)
Flicker (1)
Willow Flycatcher (H-1)
Eastern Kingbird (1)
Barn Swallow (2)
Robin (2)
Warbling Vireo (H-2)
Cardinal (H-1)
Savannah Sparrow (5)
Red Wings (6)
Eastern Meadowlark (H-1)
Goldfinch (2)
House Sparrow (4)
So only 23 species today at Techny North plus a roadside House Finch
for a total of 24.
Bird-Of-The-Day will be the Short Billed Dowitcher & Runner-Up will be
the Solitary Sandpiper.
I haven't mentioned any license plates lately but a few special ones
that I have seen lately are
Delaware seen in Evanston, Alberta in Morton Grove & today Nayarit
Mexico, the 1st plate from Mexico that I've seen all year.
