Went to Lake County today & saw the following:
North Point Marina (7:20-9:30 am) With many other birders)
Canada Goose (~600)
WHITE FRONTED GOOSE (1)
CACKLING GOOSE (2, spotted by Dan M)
Mallard (32)
Black Duck (1, others saw 3)
Greater Scaup (6)
Canvasback (2-M)
Redhead (4-M)
Bufflehead (1-PR)
Goldeneye (26)
Common Merganser (1-M)
Red Breasted Merganser (2-M)
Ruddy Duck (4-F)
Herring Gull (~150)
Iceland/Thayer's Gull (1-1st year) (seen after lunch)
Tree Sparrow (2)
Illinois Beach South Unit (9:40-10:05 am)
Blue Jay (1)
NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD (1)
Starling (2)
Lyons Woods (10:15-11:30 am)
Canada Goose (6 fly-bys)
Blue Jay (2)
Chickadee (3)
W.B. Nuthatch (2)
Red Breasted Nuthatch (H-2)
House Finch (1-M)
So 24 species for the day. Bird-Of-The-Day will be the Mockingbird &
Runners-Up will be the White Fronted & Cackling Geese.
