Baker's Lake Wednesday 9-23-26

Hello Bird People,

Back to having to unlock for the construction workers at 8:30 so
another late start.
Went to Baker's Lake & viewed the lake area from the northern overlook
by Hillside.
Did not see much. Almost no Cormorants or Great Egrets left after so
many were here before.

Baker's Lake (9:10-10:15 am)

D.C. Cormorant (only 3)
Great Blue Heron (4)
Great Egret (only 1)
Wood Duck (2 fly-bys)
Mallard (~15)
Green Winged Teal (4)
Cooper's Hawk (1 fly-by)
Killdeer (7)
Pectoral Sandpiper (2)
Ring Billed Gull (~16)
Herring Gull (1 fly-by)
Blue Jay (4)
Tree Swallow (6-8)

No adult Bald Eagles today resting on the Cormorant towers & the lone
White Pelican that had been here for the last month was missing as
well. I think the Osprey family has gone south.

So only 13 species at Baker's Lake plus 4 roadside additions for a
small total of 17 for the day.
Not much to choose from but Bird-Of-The-Day will be the Pectoral
Sandpipers & Runner-Up
will be the Cooper's Hawk although I am certainly not fond of that species.
