Hello Bird People,

Went for my weekly visit to Wood Dale with Luis Munoz. We were
disappointed that after seeing about 100 shorebirds a few days ago
today we were down to just Killdeer & Spotted Sandpipers. Shorebird
season may be almost done at this place except for those that nest
here?

Land Birds

I had 41 species of land birds & none of them were interesting
migrants. Probably the only migrant among them was a calling Alder
Flycatcher which we never saw. The only other flycatchers were Willow
(5) & Eastern Kingbird (1). The only warblers were nesting Yellow
Warblers & Common Yellowthroats. Residents in good numbers were House
Wrens (4), Warbling Vireos (6) & Song Sparrows (6). No Dickcissels
have arrived yet.

For lack of anything better Bird-Of-The-Day will be one Common
Yellowthroat which sang the strangest song which sounded like a cross
between a Goldfinch & an Indigo Bunting. Watched it singing so we know
that's what it was. Runner-Up to the Eastern Kingbird. Quit by 10:15
a.m. as the temp was already in the 80's.
