to IBET - Illinois Birders Exchanging Thoughts
Hello Bird People,
Started at North Park University (Used to be North Park College when I
went there) & then to River Park nearby & finally to Montrose. I was
with Bob Erickson & David Johnson & we were ;looking for a Common
Redpoll & then a Pintail & the Long Tailed Duck that has been at
Montrose. Finally did find the Redpoll with its flock of Siskins but
failed to find either duck.
North Park University (8:45-9:20 am)
Mallard (3 fly-bys)
Cooper's Hawk (1)
Starling (8)
Junco (2)
PINE SISKIN (10-12)
COMMON REDPOLL (1)
(Both the Redpoll & the Siskins were in the Alder Trees)
House Sparrow (Heard)
River Park (9:30-10 am)
Great Blue Heron (1, near Foster Ave)
Canada Goose (6)
Mallard (12)
Goldeneye (1-M)
Red Breasted Merganser (4)
Herring Gull (1)
Kingfisher (1-M)
Montrose Harbor Area (10:30-11:10 am)
Canada Goose (~40)
Mallard (12)
Goldeneye (4)
Coot (1, harbor)
Ring Billed (25) & Herring (4) Gulls
Downy Woodpecker (1)
Crow (2)
Brown Creeper (1)

House Sparrow (15)
So 18 species at the 3 locations plus roadside Pigeons for a day's total of 19.
Bird-Of-The -Day to the North Park Redpoll & Runners-Up to the Coot &
the Kingfisher.
License Plates seen were New Mexico, New Hampshire & Nevada.
