Birding-By-Ear Tutorial for BCN Monitors and Prospective Monitors
Welcome to our BCN bird monitoring community members, and welcome to those of you are just joining that community this monitoring season! Thank you for volunteering to monitor our region's breeding birds in 2026 (our 28th year!), and we hope beyond...!
BCN is scheduling a Birding-By-Ear training seminar, via
Zoom.
The purpose: Enhance your skills in birding by ear, observing/reporting a species presence at your assigned monitoring point(s), without necessarily seeing the bird or birds. Two skilled and experienced in birding by ear monitors, Vicky Sroczynski and Bob Fisher, will be leading the webinar presentation and the follow up discussion. The session will last approximately 1 hour with plenty of time for questions and discussion.
When: Tuesday May 19, 2026, at 7 PM CDT Please
REGISTER by
completing this form. We will then send you the zoom link
We encourage you to also access 4 Habitat specific
BIRDING-BY-EAR WORKBOOKS; their focus - developing and using your birding by ear ID skills when monitoring (often you will not see a singing or calling breeding bird species at a monitoring point but will be able to confidently note its presence).
Happy Birding!
