Montrose bathroom update ** No Sightings or Disgusting Photos **

Good news, Ilbirders,

The Montrose Beach House bathrooms are finally open.  This may be the result of the disgusting photos provided by a Chicago Police seargent of the overflowing porto-potties that were recently posted, which until now were the only toilet facilities open inside the Montrose Recreational Area.

And the bathrooms are squeaky clean!  Go and enjoy Imani the Piping Plover and all the other miracles Spring migration is sending our way.

Thank you so much for posting those photos and leveraging the Park District to open them sooner than ever, in my recent recollection. 

I have often wondered why Montrose does not have year-round bathrooms open when there are so many recreators, fishermen, runners, walkers, birders, etc. year-round.   

Whereas;

 The Ford Environmental Center has bathrooms available year-round M- Sat 10am - 4pm Ford Calumet Environmental Center – Chicago Park District

Rainbow Beach has a nice building with bathrooms - not sure what months that bldg is open, but folks on this string will know.

The Rainbow Beach facility is open year-round. It's a field house with a gymnasium, fitness center, and multipurpose rooms. Mon - Fri it's open 8:30 am - 7:00 pm. Sat it's open 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. It's closed on Sundays.

Montrose Bathrooms Closed today- Men's open - Women's closed

So that day it was open was a fluke. Per usual at Montrose my observation, it will only open once the restaurant The Dock is open.

We deserve better.

According to the Dock's website, the restaurant will open for the season on May 1.

 

It is so hard to fathom why the Montrose beach/recreational area doesn't have decent restroom/porta potty options.

Both men's and women's closed this morning around 11:00. Disappointing. Luckily,  the event planned for tomorrow, Sunday, had plenty of Porta potties. It's still a shame that there are no facilities year round.
