to IBET - Illinois Birders Exchanging Thoughts
Hello Bird People,
Not a very nice day today with all the rain but I made brief stops at
2 local lakes after lunch. It rained the whole time I was out. Not
much at Beck Lake but Big Bend had more birds. Too bad I couldn't get
out of the car to check better. Had to watch from the car at the boat
launch area.
Beck Lake
Canada Goose (48), Mallard (2) & Red Breasted Merganser (5)
Tree Swallow (~30)
Robin (2)
Big Bend Lake (12:20-12:40 p.m.)
COMMON LOON (2)
P.B. Grebe (1)
D,C. Cormorant (1)
Mallard (2)
Shoveler (1-M)
Red Breasted Merganser (50-55)
Ring Billed (4) & Herring (1) Gulls
Blue Jay (1)
Tree Swallow (~20)
Robin (8) & Starling (4)
Red Wings (4)
So only 14 species in the rain with no roadside additions.
Bird-Of-The-Day to the 2 Common Loons & Runner-Up to the male Shoveler.
