Hello Bird People,
First a message to Kanae H. I am unable to get a call through to your number which I have always used before. Perhaps you have a new number? If so please do a reply to this email & tell me what your new phone number is. Thanks!
Ft Sheridan Hawk Watch 11-7-25 (10:05 am-1:30 pm)
As usual most of the raptors flying by today were far to the west although a few went by closer. I saw small numbers of Sharp Shinned, Cooper's, Bald Eagles (3-IM), one Red Shouldered (fairly close), several Red Tailed Hawks & sort of saw a distant Merlin which if it was the same one seen earlier at Illinois Beach it took 30 min to get from there to Ft Sheridan.
Sparrows seen were Tree, White Crowned, Juncos & a few House Sparrows.
If it doesn't rain on Sunday & Monday the northwest winds will come in along with a cold front which bring in more hawks but the temperatures will only be in the 30's for highs. Bundle up if you go Hawk watching on those days!
Bird-Of-The-Day today will be the all black Red Tailed Hawk & Runner-Up will be the fairly close Red Shouldered Hawk.
