Hello Bird People,
Couldn't get to Montrose yesterday when the Red Knot was seen all day
so I went 1st thing this morning in the hopes it would still be
around. But I was there from 6-8:45 am & no one could relocate it.
Shorebirds seen were Killdeer (2), Piping Plover (1), Spotted
Sandpiper (4),
Dunlin (1 or 2) & Semipalmated Sandpiper (2). Had a lot of trouble
trying to I.D. one shorebird but finally decided I'd have to leave it
unidentified. May just have been a very small Dunlin in non-breeding
plumage?
Then to River Park/Ronan Park to look for Yellow Crowned Night Herons
but only saw Black Crowned Night Herons (7) & Green Herons (2). When
leaving I saw on Discord that the Red Knot was back & being seen at
Montrose Beach so I went back as it only took 15 min to get there.
On the public beach I saw Kelly B & Demond looking at something which
proved to be the RED KNOT so I got to see it after all. Nice ending to
a lackluster day.
A good bird deserves a good license plate & I saw one from Wash D.C.
on the way home.
