to IBET - Illinois Birders Exchanging Thoughts
Hello Bird People,
Another hot day today so I went early to Techny North & then called it
a day after that.
Had a total of 77 shorebirds with only the common types present today.
Yesterday's Stilt Sandpipers were gone & the Baird's Sandpiper hasn't
been seen since Sunday. I find it interesting that the other three
ebird reports from here today show no Least Sandpipers while that was
the common shorebird today for me?
Techny North (8:15-9:30 am)
D.C. Cormorant (1)
Great Blue Heron (2)
Great Egret (1)
Canada Goose (the usual 4)
(No Mallards today?)
Killdeer (21)
Lesser Yellowlegs (5)
Solitary Sandpiper (5)
Spotted Sandpiper (8)
Least Sandpiper (34)
Semipalmated Sandpiper (3)
Pectoral Sandpiper (1)
Caspian Tern (only 2 this early)
BALD EAGLE (1-AD, at the top of the big Willow tree)
Mourning Dove (3)
Flicker (H-1)
Willow Flycatcher (H-1)
Rough Winged (1) & Barn (3) Swallows
Robin (1)
Starling (8)
Warbling Vireo (H-1)
Savannah (H-3) & Song (H-1) Sparrows
Red Wings (4)
House Finch (H-1) & Goldfinch (1-M)
House Sparrow (4)
So 27 species today at Techny North. Bird-Of-The-Day to the adult Bald Eagle &
Runner-Up to all those Least Sandpipers.
