At Independence Grove FP, in early afternoon an American Bittern flew across the southern part of the lake.  A couple of photos of it can be seen here:  https://wingitwildlife.com/american-bittern/.
While watching a Common Goldeneye on the water a hiker from the other direction scared it up.  A photo of it can be seen here:  https://wingitwildlife.com/common-goldeneye-2/.  There were still a decent number of Hooded Mergansers on the lake in the afternoon with lots of Canada Geese.  The hybrid Goose was there again.  A Red-tailed Hawk circled around over the Des Plaines River for a while.  Midmorning a few big flocks of Sandhill Cranes flew over.
