At Independence Grove FP, in early afternoon an American Bittern flew across the southern part of the lake. A couple of photos of it can be seen here:

While watching a Common Goldeneye on the water a hiker from the other direction scared it up. A photo of it can be seen here:
https://wingitwildlife.com/common-goldeneye-2/. There were still a decent number of Hooded Mergansers on the lake in the afternoon with lots of Canada Geese. The hybrid Goose was there again. A Red-tailed Hawk circled around over the Des Plaines River for a while. Midmorning a few big flocks of Sandhill Cranes flew over.
