Snowy Owl Comments

Hello Again Bird People,

I heard today that the Prairie Bluff F.P. Snowy Owl had some problems
yesterday with its fans overdoing it by walking off trail & damaging
some prairie plants which caused the Will County Forest Preserve
police to close that preserve. This was a surprise to me as I have
never been with such a well behaved group of photographers/birders as
were there early yesterday. When the Owl was on the shelter roof no
one went closer for a closer look. And when the Owl flew to the pole
on Renwick Road everyone stayed at a respectful distance. So whatever
problems occured in the afternoon the early a.m. Saturday viewers
deserve our thanks for being so careful with the Owl.

Today I got an email from a birder who said they saw the Snowy Owl
while parked across Renwick Road as it flew by from the preserve so I
guess you can still see it but not from the actual preserve.

This disgusts me and I’m a hiker, birder, photographer in that order.  The first rule is what you pack in your pack out. The second rule is yes you are a part of nature but you better respect nature or karma. The third rule is just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should.

I yield to anyone with a scope or bins  vs. me getting ’The shot’
