Hello, it's been a while since we sent a message. And this is an important one.
Following discussions with ILA members and forum leaders, the ILA Executive Board acted to dissolve three forums as of June 30,
the end of FY 2015: GODORT, Social Responsibilities, and Leadership.
At the same time, new guidelines for forums were adopted, specifying
minimum membership and activity levels (see current ILA Handbook, page
16). Forums are required to host at least one CE event annually, elect
leadership each year, communicate with members, report to the ILA
Executive Board regularly, develop and maintain bylaws, and maintain a
minimum of 60 members. The general feeling was that the Leadership
Forum was very broad in scope, and that many other opportunities for
leadership development have been created in recent years that reduce the
need for such a forum.
I'd like to thank Laura Barnes, for her work as our first Forum Manager and to every member we recognizes leadership is an important component of librarianship.
