FROM THE LA WEEKLY:
SATURDAY, Dec. 29
Bavab Bavab, +dog+, Hop-Frog Kollectiv at Il Corral
It's the final show at Il Corral, a place that has for three
tumultuous years presented some of the most aggressively interesting --
and occasionally just plain aggressive -- new music in 21st century Los
Angeles. Since January of 2005, all manner of noise has sandblasted
the performance space, not to mention the rowdy neighbors, area
muggings, assaults by key Satanists and the sweaty limitations of a
confined venue. It'll reincarnate in 2008, moving to a new space, Zero-
Point, in SoDo (South Downtown). So enjoy the shrieking cacophonous
bilge of +dog+; the minimalist noise pop of Bavab Bavab (the duo of Il
Corral proprietress Christie Scott and Il Corral soundman Stane
Hubert); and the mystical rhythms of postmodern primitives Hop-Frog
Kollectiv. They wave goodbye as if in reply to Col. Troutman's "It's
over, Johnny!" by channeling the spirit of John Rambo: "Nothing is
over!" (David Cotner)

things have gone amazingly well in the move. thank you so much to
everyone who has helped. we are still building zero-point, our plans
include a recording studio, and part of our vision is to be able to
live document performances.
il corral has been a fabulously edge slicing place, and quirky as
quirky gets. like any place, it has formed based on it's structure.
zero-point is all windows and white walls...exactly the opposite of
the eternally night brick hole in the wall of ivy which we have come
to love.
the opening for zero-point is an initiation of our bathrooms into the
anonymous democracy of graffiti, with some earth moving improv
collaborations, live painting, and a post-modern marching band.
january 12th is quickly approaching:
so i would be thrilled for you to mark that day with us, and mark our
bathroom walls!
love & ruckus, cables & cords, art addiction and experimental fixes.
