During recent focus groups, I was surprised how often people said
that, when they visit our Web domain, they want to experience
something meaningful.

Of course "meaningful" means different things to different people, but
I captured some of them here:

1. Experience the campus “vibe” even from off campus.
2. Extend the educational mission into a lifelong experience.
3. Receive insight into the things that matter to you.
4. Share your passions, with your own voice.
5. Learn about important institutional initiatives.
6. Help create new knowledge every day.

From my experience, providing "meaningful" experiences is not a common
discussion in Web development. But, maybe I'm wrong.

Are you involved in this kind of conversation with your colleagues? Is
there someone at your institution who is charged with making sure our
constituents have a "meaningful" experience when they visit your Web
domain?
