Abstract of the Talk: "The current degree of extremism in Muslim countries did not happen overnight; it is the result of decades of failure on the part of Muslim nationalist leaders. The current situation reflects years of despair and hopelessness particularly among the Muslim youth. The OIC – the only political institution that represents all Muslims in the world today – had undertaken initiatives for conflict resolution among Muslim nations, and during the early years of its existence, had successfully resolved conflicts between PLO and Jordan, and between Bangladesh and Pakistan, but failed to resolve the conflict between Iran and Iraq. With the increased number of conflicts within the Muslim society and in view of some recent developments can the OIC initiate fresh attempts to address issues of conflicts on the basis of Qur’anic teachings?"
