Present Faculty Forum term is from June 11 to May 31, 2013. Election has to be completed before May 31st.
Every time elections are held during this period. 15 days period is normal period.
List of contestants is displayed on FF notice board. You were present at the time of finalization of contestants list.
Very actively you have been sending request from vote with voter list. The contestant list also could have been sent by you.
Please see last elections record. The procedure followed is same as earlier years. Our office staff is same for last 10-15 years and doing the duty meticulously.
Faculty Forum constitution as approved by BOG defining who and how could anyone become member of FF.
Please don’t show desperation/frustration. I am contesting but not desperate. Desperation will make the contest political and dirty. Please spare the Forum.

I would like to point out few points regarding faculty forum election.
1. Summer vacation is to begin from May 24. May 23 is the last working day. Faculties were busy in finalizing grades/ B.Tech projects etc. Grades have been displayed. Faculties have started now to move out from campus for their scheduled work/ pending work/ summer vacation etc. On May 24, only very few faculty will be there in the campus during the summer vacation. Is this the right time to hold the Faculty Forum Election? Why this time has been chosen and for what purposes?
2. Election procedure started officially on May 10, 2013 by the notification of Returning Officer which will be completed on May 24 (during the summer vacation), within a span of only 15 days. Moreover, final list of candidates will be displayed on May 21 at 7.30 PM on the notice board of Faculty Forum at faculty club. ONLY 2 (two) days will be there before the election date. All are violating the norms of an election.
3. Why is there a try to bypass the majority of faculty member from the election of faculty forum?
4. In every election list of voters is updated. Why is it not done here at IIT Roorkee? Numbers of new faculty have joined IIT Roorkee recently. As per act of IIT Roorkee, every faculty is the member of Faculty Forum. Subscription must be automatically deducted from their salary like the house license fees/electricity bill etc. Therefore, subscription can not be the criteria to finalise the voter list.
5. I would like to know the coram of last executive committee meeting, where the decision of conducting the election was taken. Was it the anonymous decision, was there any note of decent?
6. I expect that the election of faculty forum must be conducted properly with its full dignity by including the entire faculty in the voter list after proper modification of the list and should be at the time when they are present in the campus, NOT at or nearer to the long summer vacation. Voter list must be displayed at the IIT web site or e-mailed to entire faculty. I doubt about the number of faculties going to the faculty club to see the notices. In other cases, we received thousands of e-mails without having any reason, then why not this time?
7. Thus, a majority of faculty do not know even who are contesting the election, when it is going to be happened.

What really purturbed me the content of Dr. Swaminathan e-mail. It is easy to blame to any one. If Dr. Swaminathan is so anxious about the FF it would be better he should contest the election and improve the working of FF and resolve the outstanding problems of faculty. If he has no courage to contest then he should not blame others and keep mum.
