@SS

Ya, read that BOLD statement.. As I get it, your point of contention is the fact that 25th January is bit late for call letters to be received (btw, 25th is the most conservative estimate, you would by any means get it by 25th) but IIMB doesn't INTENTIONALLY delay sending of call letters. There are logistics issues involved, etc. Further, your question should have been "How strict is IIMB on its Feb 8th (receipt of forms) deadline?" Last year, we were given the privilege of even getting the recos directly during the interviews in case one is unable to arrange them in time. And I dont think so that 10-12 days which you get for recos + filling the application are too less for you to freak out !

And in case, they actually seem to be too less, you need to RE-THINK about doing a Masters in Business Administration considering the fact that here (in IIMB atleast), at times you would have several submissions lined up at very short notice !

Further, interview for B would start in March, so you would still have plenty of time to prepare. I don't think that's an issue. But in order to help you kick-start your form-filling process, I am attaching last years' application form which has recommendation form format as well. Till 25th January, 2008, you can work upon your answers.

Last but not the least, its not that only your call letter is held up, no one else has received (as I checked on pagalguy site).

Abhi..shek

My point of contention was to inform every body here that the forms wont be expected soon, and that everybody can start working on them asap.
this info was put up recently on IIMB's website and not everybody is aware of it

P.S
if my intention of providing information to the group hurts you or becomes a matter of laugh, i think it would be best for me not to put up information anymore for everybody, which i thought was the sole objective for creating this group.

@ abhishek
my point of contention is not the 8th february deadline
because if i cant complete the form and get the reccos in the given time frame, then i dont think i should consider myself an eligible candidate for a management program at an of the IIMs........extending deadlines was not an option for me

Also, Thankyou for the form.....would help a lot!!

also, (Don't kill IIMB in case the form this year turns out to be little different!)
sarcasm to such an extent is not what i expected from a soon-to-be professional from IIMB.

Sheetal,
We appreciate that your intention was simply to give information & the
comment was only reflecting your frustation with IIMB for all the
delay. However, such a comment will obviously not be well received by
current IIMBians, especially coming from someone, who isn't(at least
not yet) a part of IIMB. Please share all your views on the group, but
without comments so outrightly critical.

Even if the forms reach us by 25th, we can definitely complete them by
8th. But I hope they are not expecting recos to reach by 8th as there
are a lot of issues with recos which are out of our control. I have to
get a reco from my intern mentor which will take some time definitely.

Cheers,
Rohit

p.s. I do share her opinion that IIMB has been the least professional
of the IIMs in the admission process this year, giving wrong result
dates first, an IVRS that never worked, a wrong CAT score card for me
with sectional scores interchanged (and this happened only on IIMB
website) & then this delay.

hi

I think 25th is not the latest date for receiving the forms.

the earlier date mentioned.....10th jan.....was the last date for dispatching forms from their end, when the results were out on 8th of jan.

and the part to worry about is that speed post of the indian postal department takes 2-3 days(with 26-27 being a weekend) to deliver the letter.
so, 29 or 30th is when we can expect the forms to reach us!!!!!!

Hey guys...first of all congratulations. Saw all the messages that u ppl were sending but had to keep myself away from it coz of some work. sorry for that...
I am from the 2004(Mech) batch, so most of you would not be knowing me!

Bansal Sir...chill...
@Ms Sehgal and others, you will get the letters soon. And you will have sufficient time to fill it and send. As Mr. AB rightly said, get prepared to submit things at a short notice. IIMB admin is understanding and will help you people out in every possible way, whether is is knowing your interview schedules or and other sort of communication...at least till u get ur admission here ;)

please speak to ur profs/superiors whose recos you are planning to send. Recos are given importance at IIMB. Try getting recos from people who know you properly and can give you strong recos ;)
You can send the soft copies of the reco forms and ask your profs to have a look at least. I took recos from people who mailed the form directly to IIMB and did not hand it over to me, so pls be sure of going to the right person

And in case you people need any help, do write to us
I am sure with AB sir taking care of this at least on behalf of IIMB, you will get the help u need!
u can also bug us on the phone!

Warm Regards,

@SS and AB...pls drop this matter
both of you are not going to achieve anything out of this...
regarding professionalism of IIMB, pls come over here and c for urself...trust me...its mind boggling

regarding the reco forms, we were given a later date for sending the recos (pls correct me if i m wrong). only the form was to be sent by the date mentioned. If this happens for you, it would be mentioned in the call letter.

I never had any interest in pursuing this discussion any forward, but the kind of concerns which Sheetal has amazes me.
As Bansal pointed out 8th is not the deadline for the recos, it's the deadline for the forms. I don't think u need more than 2-3 days to fill them up. And whatever happens will be for all eligibile candidates, and not just for u. The Forms are sent by Courier, and they should reach you in 2-3 days max.

@Sheetal: We are trying to help u guys/gals. Bansal even sent the soft copies of last years' recos for that purpose. See, I'm not that good at acads, and I don't remember any course which had professionalism in its course title. I would be really glad if u could give us a few tips on professionalism.

Dear Sheetal,

Though people are asking me to drop this matter but it would be difficult to do so.

Few questions first:

You said that your point of contention was to inform everybody here that forms wont be expected soon, etc etc. Did you in your first 2 mails mention that anywhere ? You sent your first mail with that link and a token of appreciation "Stupid IIMB people !!!" (dont really remember the no. of exclamatory marks you had typed)
In second mail too, when I asked what was wrong with the webpage, you sent that timeline and asking us to "read what is mentioned in bold"! How are we supposed to know that by those 2 mails you were "providing information" ? It was left to our imagination to figure out what was going through your mind.

Secondly, you need not tell what is expected from a 'soon-to-be' professional from IIMB. Though I might sound arrogant at this stage, but doesn't matter. As Rohit Dangayach pointed out, once you are in IIMB or in any other IIM, you would see "what professionalism is"!

More than that, we created this google group to help you guys out just because we "want our roorkee-mates" to get into IIMs at ANY cost". Why would we want to clarify each and every query of yours? I didnot have the soft copy of the form, but went through around 100-odd posts on pagalguy because I recalled that one person had posted the form on pagalguy forums. Again, I am not mentioning it to show that how much efforts are we guys putting or something. Its just that we want to help you out in every way possible. But at the end of the day, if for ANY reason, we get to hear a word like "stupid" for our institute, it would be unacceptable. I hope it would be the same for you as well if anyone says the same about IIT Roorkee. Though we might have cribbed about Roorkee a lot during our tenure, but here we do feel proud of being from IIT Roorkee. Our loyalities have not shifted, though they have surely developed towards IIMB. In fact, once you get into this place, would you realize that "The kind of discipline and professionalism that exists here, if that had been implemented in IITs as well, we would have been much better off.."

Regarding your point of postal delays, etc. I always mentioned in my previous mails that "profs/faculty here do think practically.." They too know much better than any of us how much time would students get once they get their forms, etc. So, in no case would a situation arise that you would be in a 'helpless' sort of situation. We guys are not allowed to enter class even a "single minute" late, we need to submit forms/reports by the exact deadline, etc etc. When such things have been implemented in our curriculum, why would IIMB not want to implement such things during the whole selection process. There tend to be issues, etc. Last year's question paper had mistakes in question paper, IIMs would collectively be held responsible for it. I mean such things do happen at times, IIMB or any other institute would not actually want that such a thing happen..Try and understand this.

Anyways, we shall surely ensure that the objective of the group is fulfilled. We shall surely try ti live upto your expectations.

Best wishes,
Abhi..shek

ok...now at least relax guys
I hope all of u have got a chance to write about it at least once ;)

Coming back to the point, the dates for sending the reco forms will be mentioned in the call letter that you would receive shortly. And you will get sufficient time for form filling or recos.

Good luck for your GD/PI preps. Is it possible for you guys to create a google spreadsheet and fill in your details etc, the calls, about your educational background and work ex(if any). We might be able to help you with ur GD PI preps better if we hav some idea about your backgrounds.

Warm Regards,
