We are tying to create Web-based 60+ Hour Free Video Tutorials course on FOSS/SchoolOS. This is cover all aspect of FOSS
  • Installation
  • using FOSS applications
  • FOSS and Web (LAMP, Drupal, PHP, jQuery, wiki etc)
  • Creating FOSS application
  • licensing, copyrights, patents
  • Open standards
Also, we almost successful to create complete web based, open-source, open-standard based live conferencing setup.(small work remaining) So we can use this setup to create mass-awareness for FOSS.
This is what we can give to whole Indian and its education system.
I thing the total size will be 1GB for all these videos. 1GB and 60hr to get good command on FOSS and Open Technologies. Imagine If somebody has provided this 1GB Tutorial to us 1 year before. This will really
I need help and volunteers who can work on this project. We have all setup. All we need volunteers Who can help us in

  • Deciding the Syllabus based on "essential knowledge a school-student/school-admin should have"
  • Creating Presentation and Tutorial Study
  • Speaking and Creating Videos. Freedom lab will provide the setup for it.
  • Editing Videos if needed.
  • Giving a meta data in eduvid format.
  • One imp criteria is - "Presentation format (if used) mus be HTML" -- no ODP, PDF etc because our current setup do not support it. you can use scribd to convert it to html5.

I suggest, don't reinvent the wheel, BigBlue Button is already doing very good for Video Conferencing and has required solution mainly related to distant education/presentation. Google BigBlueButton if someone has not heard of it.

I have checked out the project but this is not we want. BigBlueButton use Red5 and Flash in browser. We are doing something called ''Open standard', HTML5.
BTW : I was requesting for volunteer and suggestion on video content but that for sharing your knowledge.

Narendra,

Also, I suggest that replying to mailing list should be as simple as "Reply" and the user should not worry how it is getting posted (top post, bottom, etc). The moderator needs to address these kind of mundane issues seriously.

Regards,
Nishant Kashyap

Please do not TOP post. While replying make reply at bottom or use inline reply. It makes easy to read conversion. Also trim the message when it is not needed.

Narendra,
Tutorials in Hindi Language(hope Raj Thakrey is not reading this mail) is really required. Here only 5-10% people understand English and Hindi is major language. For the first time in my life i see people using hindi even for legal works, agreements, writing cheque.  Please see if you can do something in this direction and make Hindi FOSS Tutorials.

Thanks for your suggestion. Tutorials in Hindi are easy to understand. we can use Hindi Grammer with  English terminology.

PS: almost all computer terminology like - icon, harddisk, memory etc are well adopted and  should not be converted into Hindi.
