Are we fighting a civil war? open discussions make an open system. We
all respect each other's opinions. We are one(I am repeating that).

It hurts that 'LOHA' and 'KATATA' kinds of words were needed. I again
request, kindly take a unifying view and please look at a forward path
of coexistence with respect for each other.

It wasn't hijacking on my part. More like pointing out divergences
which has to be mentioned where they happen.

There is no ambiguity about the user of this group agreeing to the
idea of having open discussions and a unified view. That is the very
reason/basis of the existence of the group in addition to help others
adopt it.
What we're talking about here is knowing what should be said in what
topics where. Discuss X when its being talked about.
I have no new additions/points to make on this issue and shall not
reply to any replies. If they can't be assimilated by your system, too
bad, so be it.
Best Regards
Gajendra

No, we are not into civil war, everybody has freedom to speak and tell the opinion. BUT when something is been discussed under one topic, please use another topic to discuss another topic. I have observed that your Unixlove popup in many discussions. I request to create new thread for such discussion. User get disappointment.

+1 from me on that.

Mohit, I respect you  a lot-- and as a teacher, with students you have a level of authority-- that you can shift things in whatever direction you deem fit-- for the benefit of classroom.

However, when there is a peer-group-- a community of equals-- then it is important to respect it-- and not behave like a schoolmaster with a bunch of obedient villagers-- school-master can randomly change topics to his own political and academic agenda-- and incase someone argues-- the teacher can ask him to get out of the class.

When even Mahatma Gandhi's rivals-- agree about Gandhi's influence and greatness-- you are nobody to say "dont compare Stallman with Gandhi as Gandhi is controversial".

Mahatma Gandhi is father of our nation-- who got us freedom through non violence and truth inspite of his human limitations-- and created a nation that is secular and campaigned against untouchability-- otherwise India would have been a religious state filled with sectarian and religious hate and violence.

Even his political rivals now agree on Mahatma Gandhi's contribution-- so you should please show some respect to our nation's founding fathers.

Regards,

Nalin

thanks for your comments. Kindly note that I have NEVER tried to TEACH
anything to anybody. I have always been REQUESTING using the word
'kindly' for a certain unified view of things, which probably is out
of focus for certain people who love to see things separated as X and
Y without respecting the relationship between two things. I too dont
want to respond to such mindsets but i still respect their freedom.

here also i asked - kindly dont compare Stallman with Gandhi, as
Gandhi is controversial character for many people.

> Mahatma Gandhi is father of our nation--

that is what 'state' of india says. Kindly help me know if indian
citizenship means saluting gandhi always. In that case, i'll not call
him controversial publicly anymore.

I fully respect your sentiments for him and I fully disagree with you
on this. I consider myself as Hindustani first and then Indian - In my
opinion - India, Pakistan and Bangladesh are part of one Nation -
Hindustan - which no politics can ever divide and which will be alive
forever sans all boundaries. JAI HIND.
<Disclaimer: this is surely highly off-topic and killing time for all
of us. I am not going to respond on such mails now onwards. Full
respect to all of you. Lets close this and move ahead.>

Mohit,
Thanks for taking to reply-- and beyond this particular mail-- I will not pursue this topic further.

When you say "kindly dont..."--->> many students etc who respect you would see that as a norm-defining directive from their guru-- rather than a personal political opinion.

There are also others (like me perhaps)-- who would see the "kindly dont..." statement as a set of views being preached.

While you are free to put accross your points of view and agree/disagree with me-- I request you to package the thoughts as "I (Mohit) believe/feel..." (declaration of personal beliefs) rather than as "kindly XXX" or "X is Y" (normative statements which define boundaries of the allowed discourse in this particular list/context for everyone who respects Mohit).

Maybe I am digging too deep into semantics--
but this is just a perspective I am humbly sharing-- for we are all indeed computer scientists-- atleast at some level.

Best Regards,
Nalin
