I think, We can plan an annual festival of FOSS for IITDelhi (North India Region),
Can we have a meeting to discuss this. I guess (abhi and alok) should plan a date for meeting. We can have a gathering inside or outside (like CityWalk/Saket) to discuss all the issue's regrading the workshop.
We never had any bigger workshop/conference. Lets combine out every to make something big(NOT BIGGEST UNCONFERENCE).
We will form a committee to work on various task.
What other think about this ?

Sure, we can have a meeting. Anything after Monday will be fine with me. On Monday (or probably Tuesday) I will be going to my school for the Linux Demo for its installation in School Computer Labs and Open Office installation in all School PCs. Presently, they (Salwan Public School, Gurgaon) are running pirated windows XP on each of their computers.

Can this be somehow collaborated with OSS camp being organized from 22 July to 24 July? They hardly have any venue decided yet. Only problem will be students will be coming back to IIT Delhi from 23rd July which is the official date of registration.

Great.. You guys are inspiring each other to put Linux in School. "School" is a biggest market place which is untouched by M$ and he is not interfering much. This is very place place where we are now trying to make a biggest impact. Imagine that all the school shifted to Linux based OS. These kids will go to college in near future and will influence college education. Basically if we able to establish Linux in School then 90% of mission is complete.
This is the reason, I/KC/FreedomLab has focused his full attention towards School Education. currently M$ is interfering at policy level, syllabus level etc But SchoolDomain is totally untouched.
I request each and every members to talk atleast 2-3 nearby schools. Ask your parent and friends if they have contact in other schools.

No for July. No for any collaboration. This community is big and sufficient.

Just an earlynews - Intern Students at FreedomLabs are working for 'Streaming LUG@IITD workshop online'
Most of the project has been completed. I hope at the end of the month (July) we will able able to do fully opensource based webconferences which use Open Standards and Ogg format for display.
Our Next plans are starting WebTV for FOSS in India where we will setup a small studio where we will organise daily dev talk.
Cheers..

Sure, we will decide the venue and time of  meeting after our discussion.
I propose for 16July at Saket (near PVR saket), but venue is totally depends on members who will join the meeting. I need feedback on this issue from our members + speakers.

correction: OSScamp is July 24-25.

The "No Collaboration" model is surprising. There wouldn't be any FOSS without collaboration. No, I am not asking you to contribute efforts to OSScamp. You are welcome if you want to, but that's your choice.

IMHO, instead of creating yet another workshop/conference/event, i would suggest contributing efforts to make existing ones better. Or is it about Credit? In any case, you guys should check out Freed.in, the annual FOSS Festival/Conference organised by ILUG Delhi.

Sorry, for the wrong dates. Is the venue final ? It is written as TBA on the website.

Venue is Amity University, Noida. We are only waiting for the formal communication (some delay caused due to their end of sessions). The formal approval will be with us pretty soon, and then we will announce the venue.

Both can go hand in hand. Each event has its use and all are encouraged.
A festival at IITD shall help inculcate FOSS culture in colleges
specific to students which is not the primary focus of other ones.
