About the Workshop
Generally power generating source are located at remote locations. Transferring bulk electric power from remote generating station to load center is very challenging for the power engineers. Lack of right of way and delayed erection of new transmission line corridors are main hurdle for the immediate transferring bulk power from one end to another end. Recently lot of development have happened in the power transmission sector for the flexible bulk power transmission. This is achieved by use of flexible power devices which enhances the power system stability and reliability. In addition to flexible transmission, fast and special type of protection schemes helped in better operation and control of such power networks.
The proposed workshop will cover the some selected topics on flexible power transmission & protection. The identified areas of workshop are application of FACTS devices, numerical relaying schemes and PMUs application for fast operation and control of power transmission networks.
