Rural Development” by Dr. Anil K. Rajvanshi on April 4, 2012 at Department
of Energy Science and Engineering, IIT Bombay.

Abstract
--------
The talk will focus on problems of rural areas, possible solutions and
role of NARI in some of them. Finally the talk will present how Institutes
like IIT Bombay and NGO like NARI can work together.


About the Speaker

Dr. Anil K. Rajvanshi: B.Tech, Mechanical Engg. IIT Kanpur (1972)
M. Tech, Mechanical Engg. IIT Kanpur (1974) Ph.D.,
Univ. of Gainesville, Florida (1979) (Mechanical
Engg.)

Taught two years in Univ. of Florida, Gainesville Returned to India 1981
and since then he is in NARI(Nimbkar Agricultural Research Institute)

NARI is an NGO and non-profit research and development institute. It was
established in 1968. MOre information can be obtained from the site:

Dr. Rajvanshi established the energy and sustainable development work at
NARI from scratch to make it nationally and internationally known. He has
more than 160 publications, some of them in prestigious national and
international journals, seven patents, three chapters in books and two
books.

A few of his research outcomes:
1.The electric rickshaw
that consumes 40 per cent less power than the
regular three-wheeler
2. A biomass gasifier to convert
agricultural waste into clean energy

3.The Lanstove, a lantern-cum-stove.
