Abstract: This is a very general talk, highlighting some of the research
topics that are relevant to almost all engineering and to some science
disciplines such as physics, chemistry and mathematics. The topics of
interest will be limited to cardiovascular and respiratory systems of a
human body. The image processing aspects of the talk will be relevant to
computer scientists and mathematicians. The topics of air and blood flow
and their interaction with solid will be relevant to aerospace, mechanical
and chemical engineers. Civil engineering scientists may be interested in
understanding certain aspects of soft tissue and its role. Mathematicians
would be interested in the challenges of modelling, and physicists along
with the chemists may be interested in the biochemistry and chemical
signalling at cellular level that maintain order in a human body.

About the Speaker:

Prof. P. Nithiarasu received his Ph.D. degree from the Indian Institute
of Technology Madras in 1997 and D.Sc. degree from Swansea University in
2007. Prof. Nithiarasu is a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its
Applictions, Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
