AAIP in association with Tryst, IIT Delhi 2020, proudly presents another esteemed alumnus of our institute Mr. Arvind Saxena. Mr. Arvind Saxena is an Indian civil servant and is the Current Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), which conducts the prestigious civil services examination to select the country's bureaucrats, diplomats, and police officers among others. He is one among few non-IAS officers to head India’s Central recruiting agency.

A student of civil engineering from the Delhi College of Engineering and an M.Tech in systems management from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, Saxena was selected for the civil services and joined the Indian Postal Service in 1978.

In 1988, Mr. Saxena left the Postal Service to join the Research and Analysis Wing, where he "specialized in the study of strategic developments in neighboring countries", including Nepal, China and Pakistan. He worked in RAW, India’s primary espionage agency, for nearly 26 years, after which he took over as Special Secretary in-charge of the Aviation Research Centre (ARC) in December 2014. He worked in strengthening ties with similar agencies of other countries while interacting closely with the Chiefs of the Indian Armed Forces and heads of the Central Armed Police Forces.
He was appointed as a member of UPSC in May 2015 after he completed his stint as the Director of Aviation Research Centre (ARC). Later, he was appointed its acting chairman in June 2018, after he took charge as head of UPSC from Vinay Mittal. In November 2018, he was appointed the full-time Chairman of UPSC.

Mr. Saxena has received numerous awards and honors during his journey. Some of these prestigious honors include awards for meritorious services in 2005 and distinguished services in 2012, conferred by the honorable prime minister of India in recognition of his unblemished service record and exemplary work in RAW.
