Hi,

I have been making enquiries as to the claims of the person who presented the fund too us a few weeks back.
One of my colleague director has invested in IndiaVenture Advisors managed Fund-I about which the person was talking about, if I am not mistaken.
This fund fl;oated in 2008(post debacle) has managed a negative return as per the NAV disclosed in 2011 to the participant. And as per this person, though he was promised exit sooner he was forced to pay up the instalment in 2011 which he did though the performance was not anywhere near promised.I find the same name as Vikram Gupta in the brochure received by me at the presentation as well as in the letter written by that person to my friend confirming the connections.
Anyhow, we can discuss when we meet!

Venky,

Further to our discussion just now.

The Finance and Investments Interest Group of the IIT Alumni Club would like to host you for a session on "Understanding Investments in Venture Capital Funds", as a followup to last week's session by one of the VCs.

You could work out the content along with Sriram and team. Basically looks at the risks that any VC investment has, what investors in such funds need to be careful about, etc etc ...

Date: 2nd February, Thursday
Time: 6:30 pm (the sessions normally start on time)

Perhaps get Prof. Thillai along as well. We can perhaps do it in a panel discussion format.

Looking forward to your thoughts on this.

Warm regards,
Rohit Koshy

Sriram,
Thanks for digging things up. That is a good data point. I wonder if any others have had other experiences with this fund.
Regards,
Alok

There were a few queries from some of the participants of that day's meeting regarding the advisability or otherwise of the the fund that was talked about during the last meeting. Should we arrange for a meeting of this interest group earlier than the first Thursday of next month - for a discussion ? If yes, can anbu/gvr/sriram/Rohit take it forward?
