Dear Parent,

We met IISJ Higher Board Member Dr. Kareemuddin at his office yesterday, 21st May 2011 and submitted the copy of memorandum. He admitted that discontent of parents is expected since the school do not have PTA & MC now to express parents concern. Being the higher board member, he will exert full efforts to make a PTA & MC in the school as he formed it in 1997.

Below are some of the points of our talk with Dr. Kareemuddin:

Q. Could you explain the structure of IISJ higher board and how it is formed ?

A. It is a body of 15 members (10 Major school Principals, 3 selected members from IISJ, IISD & IISR, 1 each from Indian Embassy and Saudi Ministry). Ambassador is the one selecting the Higher Board Chairman. As per the new rule, the all Indian school in Saudi will be under one governing body.

Q.We believe the Fee hike plan is not well studied before implementing.

A.Higher Board chairman and 5 school headmasters have thoroughly studied this fee hike for 3 to 5 months before the implementation. If no fee hike, the competent teachers will drop out and the school will collapse slowly.

Q.No transparency for financial records of school for many years.

A.I agreed, the financial statements required to be announced. He will ask for why it is not.

Q.Why not a PTA and MC, even though Saudi Ministry charter for it.

A.The lack of PTA and MC is the main reason for all misunderstanding of parents. Very soon, there will be a managing committee in the school. It will be an selected committee since Saudi Law is not permitting an election now.

Q.What the authorities going to do with surplus amount accumulated in the past.

A.It would be used for new school land and building . Negotiation is going on to acquire a land to build new school in BOT basis for which huge financial support needed.

Q.No proper quality evaluation for teachers. Many complaints that some teachers are very poor in their profession.

A.Yes proper quality evaluation must be started immediately. In case if you know any teachers are hired not in line with standard criteria of qualification, please give their name.

We asked his readiness to address a parents gathering to remove many unconvinced facts remaining for which he agreed.

Mr. Noushad Adoor, Mr. Zulfiqar Verasha, Mr. Mohamed Salahuddin, Mr. Ismail Mankarathodi, Mr. Abdul Majeed Karalikkattil and Mr. Ashraf Unneen were present in the team to meet Dr. Kareemuddin.

Dear IISJ Parent,

Please see attached media reports of our meeting with Dr. Kareemuddin in today’s Malayalam News and Madhyamam. Thanks to Mr. Mayinkutty and Mr. C.K. Morayur & Mr. Kassim Irikkoor for giving due coverage and support for spreading the news to many parents where our aim is nothing but a voluntary service for a best community school and to ease its parents suffering and anguish.

It is worthy to mention that our team was formed from a debate on the topic of IISJ fee hike organized by Jeddah Media Forum at Impala Auditorium on 31.03.2011. Even though, some of our team members were dropped out, the same Team is still moving with its mission by the great support of diligent parents.

As you know, it is easy to set aims but to carry out them is very difficult. We request all parents' support and prayers for the best accomplishment of our mission. In order to connect with more parents, please provide more email IDs to strengthen our email group.

Regards

IISJPARENTS VOICE TEAM.

Congratulations and many thanks to all the delegation members. It is sure that our representatives take great risk by using their time and all. We all the IISJ parents voice members say our thanks to you.

Above this, we appreciate our media brothers like Mr. Mayinkutty, Mr. C.K. Morayur & Mr. Kassim Irikkoor for giving due coverage on right time. We request you to publish in arabnews, Saudi gazette and urdu news.

Still we should try to get a less in fee hike, what is the next step? Can we seek the cooperation of all the political groups in Jeddah. Should we sit together to form platform to lead this issue to a good result?

The month of may is going to over, what about the fee boycott. Boycotting only by few parents will give no result except the fine for those few. We should have unanimous decision by 3-4 days maximum.

Waiting for the comments of all the members
Regards
Abdulla. C.

Dears,

Before IISJ Parents voice forum approach to Political leaders, we need an input from various political leaders here in Jeddah who represent and forward their requests to our Senior Indian/Kerala Leaders during their visit here in saudi before election and after . Start from SM Krishna, E Ahmed, PK Kunchali kutty, KE Ismail... etc. What they have done againist complaints/Memorandum ?. If nothing is done yet who will make follow up with them?. I am sure we have greate leaders here in Jeddah who can assist well on this subject. At least they can vow their updates through media.
> Adding political groups to create a new platform is a good idea but just remember that their '' Way of vision'' will be depend on many other intrests.

Subject: {IISJParentvoice:134} Minutes of meeting with Higher Board Member Dr. Kareemuddin

Dr. Kareemuddin is in which category? Principal? Selected members from IISJ, IISD, IISR? from Indian Embassy or Saudi Ministry? He is not a Principal, not a Member from any school, not a Member from Indian Embassy or Saudi Ministry, not even a Parent! then, how he is in the Higher Board?

Q.We believe the Fee hike plan is not well studied before implementing.

A.Higher Board chairman and 5 school headmasters have thoroughly studied this fee hike for 3 to 5 months before the implementation. If no fee hike, the competent teachers will drop out and the school will collapse slowly.

Many competent teachers (known to me) have left IISJ. (I can give many names) It is not because of the salary, but, IISJ management have kept them on ad-hoc basis for many years. Still around 10-15% teachers are on ad-hoc basis. IISJ will not make them permanent, because it is a main area for pilfering money. Even a half day leave taken on emergency will be deducted from their salary. No vacation salary will be provided to them. No increment will be applicable to them.

Monthly, at least two Thurdays, they are forced to attend to school without any benefit to them.

If any other teacher is absent, then their duties also putting on the shoulders of the these ad-hoc teachers as extra duties, (by the concerned HM), which also creating more burden and stress on them.

Every year there will be examination in the pretext of regularize these teachers, but the result will be “FAILED” intentionally to not to regularize them. (please note that if any candidate is a relative of any IISJ management, he/she will be “PASSED”) and immediately she/he will be permanent. Interestingly, again after the FAILED result, these teachers are allowed to work on ad-hoc basis!!

What? Mr. Kareemuddin is not aware of these irregularities?

Q.No transparency for financial records of school for many years.

A.I agreed, the financial statements required to be announced. He will ask for why it is not.

Since he is the Higher Board, he will ask to who? He said in front of media that he has been involved with the management of IISJ since the last 28 years! Now only he is noticing this?

Q.Why not a PTA and MC, even though Saudi Ministry charter for it.

A.The lack of PTA and MC is the main reason for all misunderstanding of parents. Very soon, there will be a managing committee in the school. It will be an selected committee since Saudi Law is not permitting an election now.

Is it true that Saudi Ministry is not permitting election? OR, Is he making a loop hole to SELECT AND IMPOSE another selfish committee on parents? Again, a Managing Committee of their own, is not going to remove the misunderstanding, which will create more problems.

Q.What the authorities going to do with surplus amount accumulated in the past.

A.It would be used for new school land and building . Negotiation is going on to acquire a land to build new school in BOT basis for which huge financial support needed.

This is the exact reason for fee hike! The area to pilfer the money! Buying land and building! Negotiations by unknown persons!

It is known to all parents (through news papers) that few years back the IISJ management failed a case with the land owner and lost 7 Million Riyals. Why the parents should sacrifice for the failure of the Management? Why imposing again financial burden on Parents?

Q.No proper quality evaluation for teachers. Many complaints that some teachers are very poor in their profession.

A. Yes proper quality evaluation must be started immediately. In case if you know any teachers are hired not in line with standard criteria of qualification, please give their name.

Quality of the teachers is secondary. Primary is the quality of the Management. Mr. Rasheed, a teacher of 10th class of Boys section, left IISJ around one month back. The management have not assigned any teacher to complete the portion and conducted the FA1 exam of that subject (for that class) excluding the incomplete portion. (before, I have brought this matter to your knowledge).

We asked his readiness to address a parents gathering to remove many unconvinced facts remaining for which he agreed.

When and where?

Mr. Noushad Adoor, Mr. Zulfiqar Verasha, Mr. Mohamed Salahuddin, Mr. Ismail Mankarathodi, Mr. Abdul Majeed Karalikkattil and Mr. Ashraf Unneen were present in the team to meet Dr. Kareemuddin.

Dear All

Congratulation for all the efforts and leading and taking initiatives for whole parents of IISJ. It is my suggestion, in-order to

avoid black mark on our children, avoid consequence after no paying fee on time, we can pay the fee before ending the month

and still continue our efforts to press on school authorities to reduce the fee hike with the effect from the beginning of the

year. It will be safe and will have enough time take necessary steps for our stands.

Thanking you for all your cooperation and suggestion.
