Shimano turns 100 next year.

Here's a preview video of Dura-Ace history, the top-of-the-line
Shimano road groupset:

I have one book on Shimano history, but that wasn't very good.

I also think I found the cheapest Dura-Ace component: a fixed gear
lockring -- all of $15!

it is truly remarkable! especially, when you realise that very few companies last this long and that too with innovation and quality.

Even a great, great, great organization like AT&T has all but folded up, inspite of the contributions of the Bell Labs!

impressive, but in japan, far from rare!  from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_oldest_companies :

According to a report published by the Bank of Korea in 2008 that looked at 41 countries, there were 5,586 companies older than 200 years. Of these, 3,146 (56%) are in Japan, 837 (15%) in Germany, 222 (4%) in the Netherlands, and 196 (3%) in France.[1] Of the companies with more than 100 years of history, most of them (89%) employ fewer than 300 people.[1][2] A nationwide Japanese survey counted more than 21,000 companies older than 100 years as of September 30, 2009.

i don't know if this counts small businesses.  there's a book called Old Kyoto about shops selling various crafts good and such, and a filter on being included in the book is being at least 200 years old. (maybe 150, my copy isn't handy.).
