it takes a lot of gumption to resist the allurement of lucre at a
personal level............it takes much more gumption to expose it to
the public at large due to the risks involved!

What makes it more serious is that GEN SINGH had INFORMED the DEFENCE
MINISTER immediately after this incident and NOTHING was DONE - A K
Anthony put on notice!!!

gen V K Singh, by coming out in the open, has taken a lot of risk for
which he should be ready for:
a. Risk to his life and the life of his family members
b. Some false allegations against the chief - muck raking by the Govt
- implicate him in false unprovable cases OR while prolonging the
cases, attack his character!
c. Some juniors in the Army who may be vindictive towards him
d. Some retired and senior Army men who would lose some bucks

THESE are SOME OF THE ACTIONS he was expected to take recourse to
during his tenure to clean up the muck in the ARMY - WE SHOULD EXPECT
MANY MORE such EXPOSES down the line...YES, Gen SINGH would do this
keeping in MIND the MORALE of the ARMY also - this is HIS
CONSTRAINT!!!

What it shows is EITHER he has nothing to hide in his career OR he is
not afraid of any small mistakes he might have committed! GEN SINGH
could have pocketed the buck and stayed calm.......Well, he is a PARA
and most soldiers DO NOT opt to BECOME COMMANDOS just becasue of some
career advancement/higher pay - The job of a PARACOMMANDO is HIGH RISK
and FATALITY is NORMAL(- NO NORMAL MAN would want to trade LIFE for
MONEY/CAREER!! NORMAL SOLDIERS fight a war may be once in 365
days..PARAs fight wars daily!!

SOME PLATITUDINOUS/obvious QUESTIONS questions would be asked:
1. vendetta against the Govt due to his loss of face
2. Why now and not just after he was offered bribe - GEN SINGH had
alreadty informed the DEFENCE MINISTER which is the normal course of
action!

though these are early days and nothing is frozen until the missile is
formally inducted into the Armed forces after a thorough set of tests
across different theatres and weather conditions in conjunction with
an optimisation of various parameters like CEP etc, the launch of
Agni-5 marks a milestone and a big moment for India. the Re-entry
vehicle also has some innovations!

there would be shortcomings etc which would be analysed in due course.

But, Agni-5 plugs a strategic gap for india and provides India with
an added punch at various intl fora. "HARD POWER" still rules!
China will be more cautious in its dealings.

Most countries know that such technologies are for DETERRENCE in other
allied and unassociated areas. Its effects are not overtly
manifest...it plays a psychological role.

of course, some of our "CRAZY" citizens will always say.....At least
40% of INDIANS live below the Poverty Line...blah..Blah..Blah
(without doing anything to mitigate Poverty) and make some money
gigving LECTURES world-wide capmpaiging against the INDIAN LAUNCH, on
foreign junkets!! Some "PAKISTAN LOVERS" in INDIA would
criticize India vehemently for "EXERTING" Pressure on PKAISTAN to
follow suit(IF ONLY Pakistan begs China for an equivalent missile)
without even understanding that the missile range is 5000km+ and not
targettted at pakistan - Can't blame them - most of these fools are
SOCIOLOGISTS,HISTORIANS etc!

If Pakistan decides to turn up into a new SLAVE AVATAR(it is already
the WORLD's best PROSTITUTE) to equalise, it would be great, the pak
budget would be further squeezed..unless PAK realizes that this
missile would rather purportedly hit INDONESIA and beyond rather than
INDIA!!
